EVE

Should I, or shouldn't I?
Shall I, or shall I not?
Would it really matter if I did?
Would anyone notice my frailty -
Or even give a damn?

And would I suffer greatly
After the fact?
Or would my life remain unchanged
By the inevitable regret that follows
Such wanton self-indulgence?

What if I blame someone else
For placing temptation before me?
Couldn't be my fault then, could it?
They would be the culprit, not I,
Who instigated the act.

Or should I simply walk away:
Deny myself the option
Of guilty pleasure's frantic fulfilment?
But even then I wouldn't rest,
Would still crave it in my head.

I must have it! You mustn't!!
Oh Gods, what shall I do?
This torment now is killing me.
My mouth is watering - my waistline yells "NO!"
But I, like Eve, am weak...

  1. I'm afraid the temptation would be to great for me because i have a sweet tooth and would scoff it down in nothing flat, yummmy.

    2. Another person after my own heart!!
What is it with people like us and sweet things?
Must be some sort of divine temptation, I guess.
      Hehehe:D

  5. It would surely be a sin not to eat it! A truly delicious write, I am off to raid the fridge, unfortunately no such delights await me there but I will find some substitute to ease my craving for a tasty desert:)

  6. Ha! That was so brilliant! Because the poem unfolds first, before you come across the photo of the cake (at least on my computer screen) ther surprise element worked wonders for me. Many thanks. The poem was very good and so was the idea behind it.

    Greetings from London.
