DEAD FISH

For Freddie...with deepest compassion

Dying fish floating
                          on the water.
See the cracks forming
                          there in the ground.
Weren't they there a year ago?

Sacrifices for the lives
                          we're living.
Nirvana for the special one
                           who dares
feel it all and change his ways?

The blame collectively becoming our Karma,
descendants' lives in the palm of our hands.
Don't we care about the planet we live on,
                           or don't we understand?

See the dead fish floating
                           on the water.
See the cracks spreading
                           deep underground.
Didn't you see them years ago?

Now the lights are going out over London,
New York, Paris and then Hong Kong...
soon the whole world will be gone.

  1. Beautifully written, dearest Ygraine...but sadly true.
Money speaks louder than any words spoken.
Man destroys all in his path for the all mighty dollar.
He will one day destroy himself and insects will become the ruling race on earth~

Lots of Love and Hugs, Always

    1. I totally agree, Jan...it has to happen someday. I have been thinking for a long time now that insects exhibit a much greater intelligence than we now do - I mean, all the senseless killing...in the name of...what?
How concerned I am for our descendants...

      Much Love & Hugs xoxoxo

      ps/ I love your new blog!! :))

  2. Haunting words Ygraine, and powerful too.

The time for change is NOW but is it going to be soon enough, for the next generation? So many people still could care less, we see it every day in our so called "enlightened" BC community. Talk is cheap, walking the talk is so much harder.

    1. I honestly believe it is a global problem...it is happening everywhere you look, isn't it?
As you so rightly say, all the empty words...oh if only they were translated into positive action...

      Many thanks, Geraldine...:))

  3. I love this...though, asJan says, it is true in a sad way. The world would be so much better off without money...

I am living for that elusive day when life is finally considered far more precious than money...

Yes, all those signs this poor planet is giving us...yet still we cannot see...:(

    1. You see it...I see it...why then can't those who have the power to change things in a big way see it?
      Is beyond my understanding...:/

  8. Ygraine, as always so meaningful. Like you observed, 'soon the world will be gone' and only then humans will stop craving for more. We are certainly taking infinitely from this finite world and we really never realize it. Just loved your words. Few but heavy to ponder.
Must be good and well. Have been so long that we lost our touch.
I am back to my country Bhutan.
    Have a nice day.

So good to know you're home now...I have missed you!

  9. You ask questions that I believe we, humans, are afraid to answer. It is almost as if we're on this zombie-like trance walk to... what? It sure isn't a brighter future.

    Great poem. Thanks.

    Greetings from London.

    1. Wish we could just step aside...yet something seems to keep us on this path to destruction.
All the killing...the hatred...the lying...really scares me...for our children, grandchildren and so on.
Oh if only peace and love were options...

      Many thanks, CiL.

      Have a great day.:)

  10. __It may be that the reliance on "technologic sense" has -controlled- its users to a point where... "common sense" has become an irrelevant, unused fragment of the past.

    1. You certainly have a point there, Doug.
Dependence on technology does isolate us from reality...and, therefore, taking responsibility has become an alien notion: leave it to the computer brain to put things right...while we just carry on the same regardless of the consequences, taking what we want and never giving anything back.
I just can't shake the uncomfortable feeling that Armageddon is fast approaching...and it terrifies me.

      Many thanks.:)

    1. Gosh - I really hope so, Deeps. If we can influence the rest of humanity (even in the smallest way) then maybe we dare hope for a better future.
I guess all we can do as individuals is keep thinking positive...and keep lighting those lights...

Many thanks, my friend...for your support.:)
