FOGGY MORNING

The landscape merges into off-whiteness.
People and cars
quickly dissolve, vision is lost.

Metamorphosis of the World
into vapour.
Disorientation of the senses.

Sounds muffled, clammy dampness:
morning could be
evening's gathering dusk.

Spiderwebs on evergreen hedges
hung heavy
with fog dew, becoming gateways

to the Underworld,
where I slip between glistening spokes
into never ending twilight...

  1. Ygraine,
I was just shutting off my laptop before heading to the park with Rose but then I saw your post and had to come by and leave a comment.
I love this poem, beautifully written.
    And the photo is wonderful.

Happy first day of spring to you.

  4. I see the genes of those famous poets like that of William Wordsworth or John Keats or T.S Eliot living in you. This is not fabrication.
You write poems so well and expresses the readers what you see inside. I like it dear Ms. Ygraine. Keep writing.

  9. You put into words a wonderful early morning stroll lush with remembered fantasy of similar adventures into a private world almost forgotten.

    1. Haha...I do remember morning strolls to school in the fog. I had to travel a very long path between two hedges and the spider webs, hung heavy with fog, were draped across in front of me.
I was absolutely terrified, so used to wait for some (much braver than me) boys to go on ahead and clear the way for me!
      Such a coward!! *smiles*

  13. Ohhhh, fabulous weaving here dear lady! As a child I was concerned that on a foggy morning everything simply disappeared into nothingness :) then mysteriously reappeared again from nowhere and I wondered where nowhere was, it really bothered me for some time :) now I know :)

  14. Haha...me too, Rose!
I used to think I had strayed into Neverland when it was foggy...only I couldn't understand why I was unable to find Peter Pan...I would have so loved to learn to fly with him!!
    Many thanks...:)

  16. You have described the mystery mist brings so well!
I love everything in your poem except...."people and cars", but since they have disappeared, it's ok; they would have spoiled the magic of your words.
Spiderwebs, aaaah..., I've shot hundreds of them and the one in your pic is the most perfect one I've ever seen, thanks!
I could see you like a modern Alice discovering a new and better Wonderland beyond those glistening gateways.
    A hug.
(I miss some mist in the image)
