PETS

Let me consider you capable of speech
and higher function:

the notion of scales made flesh and fins made limbs;
a metamorphosis into cognitive being

so we could converse and share a joke or two,
exchange anecdotes and life experiences -

to know what it's like to be you, and you I;
to truly connect and touch Souls.

Whatever you believed you were when I chose you
and brought you home to live with me, you are so much more.

If I could, I would give you an ocean to swim in
with rock pools, caves and weed to explore.

Oh how I wish I could see through your eyes
and know what you think of me -

food dispenser, perhaps, or jailer?
But I never wanted to be either of these.

No. I wanted to be your friend, protector,
surrogate shoal, to earn your respect.

Because it is such an honor to have you here.
I am your humble servant...and I love you to bits.

  1. HeHe! Pets..Goodness!
    Fish and chips for tea...???
I assume were talking fish here..
Back in the early 70's l used to keep
tropical fish, l had nine tanks around
my home, mostly catfish..which l used
to show, sounds weird l know, but some
species are worth a lot of money..!
I then built shelf units in the shed,
and went into it BIG time..! Great
little hobby, and l made money out of
    it..One catfish..an 18inch Perruno...
    (Perrunichthys Perruno)..l sold for
£1,200..lot of money back then....! :).
Great fun while it all lasted..! :).

I'm strictly A Pussy Cat Lover, And Have Had
Cats Since The Day l Was Born, In Fact The
Very First Night After Being Born At Home, mia
Mama Laid me In My Basket, Our Pussy~Cat Came
And Cuddled Up And Slept With Me, And Did So
Every Time My Mum Laid Me To Rest In The Basket..!
    I~LOVE~CATS...! :).

I've had other pets of course..few l've been out
    with..some nice..some ugly..some even needed to be
put on a lead..HeHe! Joke there somewhere...! :o).
    AND...As l always say...
    "Dogs have owners..cats have staff"...

Where do goldfish keep their money?
    In the river bank...

What did the goldfish say when he
    swam into a wall?
    “Dam.”.

Why are goldfish easy to weigh?
    They bring their own scales...

    1. Hahaha...as always, you make me laugh out loud, Willie!!
I love the fish jokes...oh if only I could delay them to my beloved pets! Lol
Yes, I know some fish are very expensive to buy...but, to me, they are utterly priceless. I love the way they huddle in the corner of their aquarium beside me when I recline on the sofa to watch TV...and race across to greet me when I have been out and return home.
And to think the "experts" claim fish lack memory and intelligence...I have yet to be convinced!
I really do love them to bits!!
I had one, a female called Sara, who lived for 32 years. You can probably imagine my sorrow when she passed away. She was one of the family to me.
      I can't imagine a home without them!😊😊
      Many thanks, Willie!😊😊

      Have a super weekend xxx

    3. That's some'fin' you must always
      remember..Poor sole...!!! :).

Seriously..l also had a Clarias catfish..
better known as a walking catfish..an
Albino in fact, he was quite tame, he's
come to the surface, when l feed him
      worms, etc..he also had a ping~pong ball,
he played with, he's also jump out of the
tank, when possible, and run across the
carpet using it's dorsal fins as feet...
In the wild they come out the water to
hunt..they are also regarded as a good
eating fish..so the natives would hunt
them for food..AND..Yes! l have eaten
catfish..the Wells catfish is a rather
      large species..growing up to 16ft..But,
only the smaller fish are caught and eaten..! :o).

    4. 😁 I once had a "walking" fish too, a golden orfe...who seemed to dislike being in his aquarium. He used to leap out and launch himself across the carpet in clumsy jumps. One day he landed in a pot of powder paint and I had to wash him! Still he persisted in his acrobatics!! Now I have an aquarium with a lid!😉
Also, my late 32 year old goldfish used to leap up and knock the feeding lid off. She absolutely refused to have it closed.😁
They all have such unique personalities when you get to know them!!

  2. Ygraine.
I really like the fish out of the pot, let the animals live in the sea, in rivers and aquariums! 😂😂😂
Being from the sign of Pisces, there is a phrase of mine that says:

"I am the fish that ate the cat!" 😂😂😂

    I really liked your composition!
Many kisses and good beginning of February !!!

No. I wanted to be your friend, protector,
    Says it all for me.
Those who insist that fish only have a three second memory have obviously never spent time with them/watched them.
When we had fish, lifting the lid on the tank in the mornings alway brought them to the surface for food. And there are a lot of three second blocks in a day.

    1. Oh I SO agree with you, Sue...after spending time with fish, I challenge anyone to tell me they have virtually no memory or are unable to recognise people.
Mine race over to see me when I enter the room...and when anyone comes to visit, they are cautiously inquisitive...just inching their way to have a look!

Thank you so much for your wonderful comments...they are truly appreciated!😁😁

Please take care of yourself and keep safe.

All my love and hugs ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

  10. that was so sweet and touching dear Ygraine !!!!!!!!!!!!!

since childhood i was so fascinated by swimming fish in tanks near people , that seemed powerful display of relationship between nature and man.

when we moved to this home i wanted one in my home either ,but lack of energy that is needed for cleanliness and management for pets i had to quit the idea :(

now after all those years i want them to swim in ocean freely and explore their world :) though i will not be able to see them but their happiness will be contenting me :)
i bet , since they are with you for so ling ,they are more happy in tank than ocean :)
    hugs!

    1. Oh how wonderful it would be to swim in the ocean with the fish...I would love to experience their world first hand!
Yes, keeping fish does involve quite a bit of work. We have a lot of small stones in the base of our aquarium, and I do find it rather difficult to clean them adequately...so I have to have two attempts sometimes!
I think these fish are so contented in the tank because they were bred in captivity, and so have no experience of living in their natural habitat.
I love having them here with me!😊😊

      Many thanks, my lovely friend!

      Have a wonderful day 😊😊

Lots of love and hugs ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

  16. Do you understand there is a 12 word sentence you can say to your partner... that will induce intense emotions of love and impulsive attraction to you deep inside his heart?

Because deep inside these 12 words is a "secret signal" that triggers a man's impulse to love, please and look after you with his entire heart...

    =====> 12 Words Will Fuel A Man's Desire Impulse

This impulse is so built-in to a man's genetics that it will drive him to work better than before to to be the best lover he can be.

In fact, triggering this influential impulse is absolutely essential to achieving the best possible relationship with your man that once you send your man a "Secret Signal"...

...You'll immediately notice him open his mind and soul to you in such a way he haven't expressed before and he will identify you as the one and only woman in the universe who has ever truly attracted him.
