Invisible yet infinitely influential,
thoughts are compelling, often disruptive:
intentions are twisted up, identity
shifts into hazy confusion.
Thoughts emerge from a tangle of words
spiraling out of the mind's deepest recesses,
only to implode into a black hole and disappear
into the stream of universal consciousness.
Do we really understand their significance?
Do our thoughts define us
or, perhaps, we define them?
That is the ultimate conundrum.
A lone thought breaks away
in convoluted metaphors
that taunt and confound the brain
into critical overload...
No fixed idea checks the downward slide
into devastating inner conflict.
Through the mind, interpretation fails
and a mere seed of comprehension alone remains.
Yes, thoughts are the ultimate enigma: non-things
with the power to create or destroy all things.
They play us like fiddles.
They are the Master Puppeteers.

I love what you write that thoughts can create or destroy, so powerful and true! It is the same with words. Have a lovely weekend☺
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Natalia...I really appreciate that! :))
DeleteWishing you a brilliant weekend too...

The first thing l did was look up the word Puppeteer..
ReplyDeleteInteresting..Also..
The past tense of puppeteer is Puppeteered...
The third-person singular simple present indicative form of puppeteer is Puppeteers...
The present participle of Puppeteer is Puppeteering...
The past participle of puppeteer is Puppeteered...
(to many 'P's and 'E's for my liking)..
Being played like a fiddle..in my case that would be
difficult..l'm 6ft 3in..and l don't think l'd fit
under anyone's chin..willing to try though..! :).
When l started reading this..an old Motown song
came to mind from 1970...Check it out...

Haha...no, I don't think you would fit under anyone's chin!! Lol
DeleteAt 4'10" I probably would though!! 😁😁
Many thanks for the recommendation...I will check it out as soon as I'm finished here...
Have a great Sunday!
HaHa! 4'10" Goodness..! :).
DeleteYou must be busy at Christmas time..
Pantomime and all that..Snow White
comes to mind..??? Bless! :).
I must put my hand up and confess..my wife,
or my ex wife was 4'10"..every time we went
out, she used to sit on my shoulder..and...
l would feed her nuts..!!! :).
Must go..my 'straight jacket' is slipping...! :o).
Hahaha, my brother used to literally sit me on his shoulder and call me his "Little monkey" 😁😁😁
DeleteYgraine,
ReplyDeleteHappiness is only possible in our lives, because our thoughts are invisible... Intimate, only ours. If they were visible, certainly, those who do not like us, would appear just to sabotage our thoughts of happiness.
I really liked this text.
Many kisses!
Yes, thinking about it, just as well our thoughts are private...perhaps the last sanctuary we have in this "Big Brother" age!😉
DeleteSo happy you enjoyed, Doug...and thank you so much!😊😊
Kisses xxx
Master puppeteers indeed. But who pulls their strings - and ours?
ReplyDeleteYet another masterly write dear Ygraine. Thank you. I will take this away and ponder on it...
I often ask myself that same question...and in so doing, tie my head up in knots!! Lol
DeleteMany thanks, Sue...😊😊

All so true. Wonderfully expressed. Sort of the world interpreted within ourselves..
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed.

ReplyDeleteI really and truly appreciate that.😊😊
Have a super day xxx
Oh thank you so much, Anthony...and I'm really happy you enjoyed! 😊😊
ReplyDeleteI've found I can no longer be like a puppet on a string to some of the thoughts I have seeing they're not always mine.
ReplyDeleteThat is how I'd like to be too, Lon...but I sometimes find it so difficult...
DeleteYgraine,
ReplyDeleteFor me, the most beautiful side of life is how we can express our abilities to people and that makes them useful
your writing is a very useful work for many people especially for me, thank you
