ODE TO MICK

At the beat of his drum kit
female hormones rage.
He covers Hendrix, resembles Bolan
in glam rock costume
with leather platform boots,
and has even paraded as Jagger.

Groupies, he assures me, mean nothing at all,
are simply ego stokers:
bleached hair, pouty lips; good to be seen with
on an album cover
or in a nightclub - no substitute
for me though. At least, that's what he claims!

But how his eyes belie such noble declarations:
each ogling a stark betrayal
that wounds, unsettles, penetrates my armour;
his fame secured so dearly,
at such expense to my confidence.
Is his body as faithless as his eyes?

Pretty girls hanging around the stage,
swaying in ecstasy to his lyrics and the mood
he's so cleverly created, each one hoping
post concert to sneak away with him
for a notch-on-the-bedpost hour of passion -
that will drive another sword through my heart.

  1. Mick sounds as if his heart beats true to his one and only love...Mick.
Being put on a pedestal by "groupies" can be dangerous. It is so easy to fall out of their favor and be just another has been.
Give me true love...if there is such a thing in the world.
But rock on Mick! Age is just a number.
Another wonderful ode my talented and beautiful sister. You could steal his heart today if you had a mind to.

Big Hugs and Much Love Always ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

    1. Dearest Jan, he was my first "real" love...only, the love turned out to be from my side only!๐Ÿ˜‰
Ah, those heady days of teenage love!! Lol
I haven't seen him for more than twenty years now. I think if I did, the native would be well and truly gone...๐Ÿ˜‰

Thank you so much, my beautiful sister ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

All my love and hugs ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

  2. My sweet Ygraine,
I will talk about love, but about the love of "Rock and Roll!"
I am also from the "Rock and Roll" generation; starting with "Little Richard" and "Elvis Presley" (the kings of rock), going through "Jimi Hendrix" (the greatest guitarist in the history of POP); "Paul McCartney" (this was simply one of the "Beatles", nothing more needs to be said); "Ozzy Osbourne" (a vampire on the stage); (the "queen"), "Freddie Mercury"; "Mick Jagger" ("Rolling Stones to this day"); "Robert Plant"; "Jim Morrison"; Michael Jackson. There are many talented names, "poison of good" that never ends! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
And sure enough, these rock icons made many fans almost reach an orgasm in front of the stage. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
His text was once again excellent.
Many kisses and good weekend, always taking care of health.

    1. Oh Doug, my good friend...I absolutely adore the musicians of the seventies: Slade, Queen, Barclay James Harvest, Simon and Garfunkel...and then at the other end of the spectrum...like T Rex, Gary Glitter (oh yes, especially the Glam Rock bands - how I love their dress sense! Lol)!
Such a fantastic decade...oh to be there now - if only for the clothes!!๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜‰
WOW, you have such amazing taste...all those great icons!!๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š
Many thanks, Doug...you have inspired such great images...almost like being transported back to those times when they played REAL music!!

Have a great weekend too...and stay safe.

      Many Kisses xxx

  3. Awesome poem!
I have always said that I would never wish to meet my idols. Their true selves would certaintly be so disappointing...

  6. Oh yes. And without question those lips did lie. Often. And the lips, the eyes, the movement seduced soooo many of us.
Stay well, stay safe, and please keep writing. Hugs.
