THE OPTIMIST

Day of drizzle: day of dejection

with hopes
unfettered, I wait
for the page to load

this damp coldness
that penetrates to the bone
is immune to central heating

outside
a robin hops
from bare branch to bare branch
in search of food

the Oak's yellow leaves
turning brown
are falling
lifeless, to Earth

rainwater escaping
from blocked gutter
drip...drip...dripping

mimicking my heartbeat
as I wait...

connection is elusive today
must be the weather
all those droplets

forming a barrier

to exultation
but today is the day
everything changes

today
I know I will find Utopia
when I search my e-mails
for your name...

    1. Yes, funny how the right word from someone special can really lift your day, isn't it?
Good luck with the storm...sounds like it will be best to stay indoors if you possibly can.
We have had the high winds and the floods...now we're back to the endless drizzle:/
Hope you're having a good weekend...in spite of it all! :)

    2. ah its good...we will be in all day today...there is already a good coating on the ground and quite slippery...did spend a bit of time on the porch just listening to the ice tinkle to the earth

  5. Time is an eternity when waiting for the page to load.

Anticipation becomes aggravation when made to wait too long.

    But hope knows Utopia.

Had thought my poems have been a little too sombre of late, so I was hoping this one came across as a bit lighter...:)
      Many thanks :)

  10. Beautiful and vivid images in your hopeful poem, dear Ygraine. I especially love your robin hopping from branch to branch: our souls are little birds looking for someone to feed them; a lovely email can be a precious meal!
I wish you a warm season and no barriers to exultation.
Thanks for sharing and a hug.

    1. Yes...I do see these little birds as akin to our Souls in their constant searching for nourishment...our need seems to increase in the winter months too, doesn't it?
Your kind words warm my heart, Dulcina.
      Thank you so much.

Seasonal greetings to you also, dear friend.

      Hugs xxx
