HUNGER

So, you've procured the last can of beans?
Keep it well concealed. Hide it well
beneath your coat while walking home.
If anyone spots it, they'll likely kill you for it.
And if you surrender it, then I'm afraid you'll starve.

Hunger is knawing away at your belly,
the metal cold against your ribs.
You have to get it safely home.
If not, all hope is lost...

What a rigamarole!! And just to go out in search of a can of beans!
I feel like a bank robber!!! πŸ˜‰

  1. Ygraine,
We are all living in very strange days. It seems that we are inside a science fiction film, where panic and hysteria have taken over the cities, due to an invisible evil. But, it is not a movie, because even Hollywood today is empty, completely lifeless.
Today, the best food is not beans, but empathy, where we have to take care of each other.
I am always here, for you, as your friend, for your days of sincere tears!
    Many kisses!!!

    1. Yes, I agree...these are indeed very strange times, and it does seem like time itself has slowed down.
Definitely safest to stay at home... I'm only venturing out to buy food now!
      Many thanks!😊😊

    1. My heartfelt thanks, dearest Jan...yes, the greatest crisis we have ever known in our lifetimes.😒
But we have to remain strong and support each other as best we can...while we await our uncertain future.

      Haha...it was a wonder I wasn't arrested!! πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

  4. Scary times, praying for this to be over! In here we have plenty of food in stores, but there is one thing missing: yeast. Too bad for a home baker like me, but I am using sourdogh and things like that for my bread. Stay safe everyone!

Most essential foods are pretty scarce here now, and the queues are so long!😳
I love home baking too, I wonder if there is a substitute for flour? Someone suggested mashed potato?!πŸ˜‰

      Take care...and stay safe!😊😊

  5. Hopefully the situation hasn’t and doesn’t get down to the last can of beans. Feel so sorry for those that were struggling before.
Looking good in survival apparel, by the way☺

    1. Unfortunately, in our local food store, it was! I think this one was only left there because it was dented!πŸ˜’
But difficult times call for desperate actions...I bought it - at full price!!πŸ˜‰
Me too, Anthony...seeing disabled people on TV in tears because they aren't receiving any food breaks my heart.
I think this thing has caught every government off guard...they are all struggling to get help to those who most need it, probably the sheer numbers overwhelming them.
      Such difficult times...πŸ™
So happy you like the survival apparel!!πŸ˜‰

      Stay safe...😊😊

  9. I really, really wish this current pandemic can be replaced by one of kindness. There are some signs it is there, but the spread is slow at the moment.
Hugs and love - and admiration for your bankrobbing self.

Ha, my bankrobbing self only goes out when her cupboards are totally bare!! πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰ I have a strong suspicion that she is a coward at heart!! Lol

Please take care, my dear friend.

  10. Ygraine, my friend, I really like that photo, but you may not want to walk into a bank dressed like that, they might think you're there for more than just beans.

i can understand being such sensitive person it hurts to see such desperation and conflict between people for items short on stores
i really wish people show some care for other and not grab everything even if they can afford ,how selfish

    1. Dearest Baili...human nature is strange, isn't it?
Ever since this pandemic has taken hold, people are literally fighting in the stores...and are buying everything in bulk, without a thought for anyone else. It makes me feel so sad that human beings can behave in such a selfish way. It they just bought what they needed, then there would be enough for everyone! It is the elderly and disabled people who suffer most.πŸ™ Some are still not receiving the supplies they are meant to. I suppose the authorities are struggling with the sheer numbers of needy people, but some are falling through the net...and it is heartbreaking.
My dear friend, you are always in my thoughts also, and I hope and pray that you have enough food and other necessities for your families there in Pakistan.πŸ™πŸ™

Be safe, my beautiful friend...and take good care of yourself!!

All my love and hugs ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
