Summer oaks dressed in vibrant green.
In their meadow of wild poppies, these trees
could be Van Gogh creations:
beauty composed of Nature's own hues,
a series of exquisite masterpieces.

They have no capacity for greed or hate -
unlike the ego of man,
and they live in harmony with all Creation:
filtering the air and generating oxygen
so we can live and thrive.

These beings are noble, utterly vital,
so where is our reciprocal respect?
What do we do but cut them down
just because they block our view...
the earth's lungs carelessly excised.

we'll all be extinct.

  1. Wonderful poem. Wonderful insight.. Givers are so much more beautiful than the takers..

    1. Oh I agree wholeheartedly, Anthony...there appear to be far more takers than givers, and that makes me really sad.
      And thank you so much...:))

  2. Great piece. Such lovely feelings. Thanks.

    Greetings from London.

    1. Oh thank you, much! :))

      Greetings from Hampshire.

    1. Thank you so much...yes, seems to be a painful fact of modern life...

  4. Beautifully written and so true!
We cut out their lungs and move on to the next tree of life and kill it, too. Never mind how long the mighty Oak has been living and helping us to breath.
Man is a serial killer when it comes to our forests and trees!!!
Love this Dearest Ygraine! Thank you for the reminder!

    1. Oh WOW, Jan, so eloquently put!!
Oh how I wish I could find the right words as you do so beautifully.:))
You have such an incredible way with words...I am so privileged to know you...

All my Love & Hugs xoxoxo

  5. Oh just WOW!

I thought your words had so much meaning, beautifully written and so true!
We are blessed to see oak trees close to where we live, they are such marvellous trees, and I'm pleased to say protected.

I wish you a wonderful weekend, we are enjoying a restful one.

    All the best Jan

    1. Oh Jan...your beautiful comment has so cheered up my day! I can't tell you how good it is to know those trees near you are protected.
If only the ones around here were too...but, at least the two growing in our garden are safe! I only fear fro them once I am no longer around.:/
Thank you so much, my Friend!:))

      Have a fabulous week.

      A Hug xoxoxo

I have to tell you, where I live, just about 3 streets away, there is a row of oak trees, that are protected by our town. I would have to say, they are 30+ years old!
