Observe this expanse of glowering sky
in slate-toned pagodas to winter's freeze
where north winds bite both nose and eye
and the blood retreats from bitter breeze.
A robin sings out mournful madrigals
to awaken slumbering daffodil buds,
while naked boughs bow like praying Cardinals
reflected in the unseasonal floods.
Crowding around a hanging fat ball
chirping sparrows compete to eat,
as blackbirds wait for crumbs to fall
beneath a lichen-encrusted seat.
And as Nature's cycle begins again
euphoria transforms my world-weary brain...
in slate-toned pagodas to winter's freeze
where north winds bite both nose and eye
and the blood retreats from bitter breeze.
A robin sings out mournful madrigals
to awaken slumbering daffodil buds,
while naked boughs bow like praying Cardinals
reflected in the unseasonal floods.
Crowding around a hanging fat ball
chirping sparrows compete to eat,
as blackbirds wait for crumbs to fall
beneath a lichen-encrusted seat.
And as Nature's cycle begins again
euphoria transforms my world-weary brain...

Thanks, Ygraine. I have a weird question for you. I read on your profile that you are interested in ancient buildings. I recently watched a video about ancient architecture and how some of it so advanced and impossible to build today. Some monuments we have all seen for years and years now seem to be to be really, really ridiculously huge to me. Tall doors. Were these things built by giants?
DeleteOk...probably not the question you'd expect from me, but hey...it's the Internet. I can ask weird questions.
There were giants in the Bible and stories of them In many peoples' long ago tales.
Have a good day! Nice to see you on my blog. :)
so touched my heart because word for word from this poem is so in its meaning
ReplyDeleteOh WOW...thank you, Ibrahim...so much! :))
